Meet The Konjac Root

Konjac is a starchy root vegetable native to East Asia, traditionally grown in the mountainous regions of Japan, Korea, and China. For centuries, it’s been used in Japanese wellness rituals and cuisine, prized for its gentle, skin-loving fibre known as glucomannan.

To create our konjac sponges, the root is first harvested, dried, and finely ground into a soft flour. This flour is mixed with water and carefully heated to form a jelly-like paste. It’s then poured into moulds, steamed, and naturally dried to create a firm, bouncy sponge — ready to cleanse, exfoliate, and compost with ease.

How To Use Your Konjac Sponge

  1. Hydrate your sponge with warm water until it becomes soft.
  2. Gently massage over skin in circular motions, with or without soap.
  3. After use, rinse your sponge and gently squeeze out excess water.
  4. Hang to air dry in a well-ventilated area, ideally outside your shower. Never leave in pooling water as this will degrade the natural fibers.
Disposal

With proper care your sponge can last up to three months, but we recommend replacing it every 4-6 weeks.

To dispose place sponge in your home compost, garden or green bin.

If you choose, you can sanitise and refresh your sponge weekly.

  • Place it in hot water and boil for a few minutes.
  • Remove from the water and allow it cool before gently squeezing out excess water.
  • Hang to dry in a sunny, well-ventilated spot.
