Why Switch from Plastic Loofahs?

Most loofahs are made from synthetic mesh—non-biodegradable, prone to bacterial build-up, and often replaced every few weeks. Konjac sponges offer a clean, compostable alternative that’s gentle on skin and the planet. No microplastics. No harsh abrasives. Just pure, soft, skin-loving fibre.

Meet the Konjac Root

Konjac is a starchy root vegetable native to East Asia, traditionally grown in the mountainous regions of Japan, Korea, and China. For centuries, it’s been used in Japanese wellness rituals and cuisine, prized for its gentle, skin-loving fibre known as glucomannan.

To create our konjac sponges, the root is first harvested, dried, and finely ground into a soft flour. This flour is mixed with water and carefully heated to form a jelly-like paste. It’s then poured into moulds, steamed, and naturally dried to create a firm, bouncy sponge — ready to cleanse, exfoliate, and compost with ease.

FAQs

Do they smell like the botanicals?

No, our Konjac sponges don't smell like the botanical infusions.

Will the Konjac sponge feel too soft to exfoliate?

The subtle texture of our Konjac sponge offers soft, gentle and effective daily exfoliation without stripping or scratching skin.

How long does each Konjac sponge last?

With proper care, each sponge lasts 4–6 weeks. Replace when it begins to degrade.

Can I use the facial sponge with my cleanser?

Absolutely. Apply your favourite cleanser directly to the sponge for a soft, foaming cleanse, or use the sponge after your cleanser for gentle exfoliation.

Can I use the body sponge with my body wash?

Absolutely. The sponges only need a small amount of soap or body wash to create a rich, creamy lather. We suggest using natural, gentle formulations as overly harsh ingredients may cause the natural fibers to break down more quickly.

Are the Konjac sponges suitable for kids or sensitive skin?

Yes. Konjac was originally developed for babies' skin—making it ideal for anyone needing a gentler touch.

How do I dispose of my Konjac sponge?

Once worn out, cut the cotton string and compost the sponge. They're 100% biodegradable and will break down naturally.
